Rebuilding Together Montgomery County To Partner with ecobeco In Celebration of Earth Day, RTMC and ecobeco Join Together to Provide Eco-Friendly Repairs to the Home of a RTMC Recipient in Rockville Rockville, MD (April 22, 2009) – Ms. S, a senior citizen still living in the home her grandfather built, will receive energy efficient repairs such as sealing air leaks, insulating the attic, replacing broken windows, adding storm windows and doors, repairing structural damage, and replacing a severely degraded roof. In making these repairs, RTMC and its partners will reduce both the cost and consumption of energy for this low-income senior. These repairs will also make her home safer and more comfortable. Finally, by conserving electricity, the home owner reduces her carbon footprint (by reducing greenhouse gas emissions from electricity production), which is great for the environment.
These repairs are made possible through a joint effort between Rockville based ecobeco and RTMC. ecobeco promotes environmentally friendly living by providing Whole Home Energy Audits, ecoAssessments, and by being a one-stop shop for energy efficiency products and services for home owners. This partnership with ecobeco opens up a new avenue into the world of conservation and green living for RTMC and provides an outlet for ecobeco to share its expertise with the community. In addition to the contribution of ecobeco, RTMC is pleased to collaborate with Bartlett Roofing and Sheet Metal, Temple Beth Ami and Shaare Torah Congregation, and Energy Services Group to create a Safe and Healthy Home for Ms. S.
Brian Toll, Chief Executive of ecobeco stated, “ecobeco’s Home Energy Audit revealed air leakage that was approximately twice what it should have been for a house that size. On Earth Day, ecobeco and Energy Services Group are proud to donate our time and resources to help this Montgomery County resident in need. We will seal air leaks and install insulation, which we expect will make a dramatic impact on the energy efficiency and comfort of the home and help this low-income home owner make large cuts in her electric bills.”
Susan Hawfield, Executive Director of Rebuilding Together Montgomery County, remarks on this Earth Day collaboration, “Energy efficient homes are important for everyone. However, for our low-income homeowners, the modifications often cost much more than their budget will allow. Yet, these modifications can provide much needed cost savings in their utility bills and make the home much more comfortable to live in. We are very pleased that ecobeco is partnering with us this year on Earth Day. With their expertise we will be making an amazing difference in the comfort of one of our recipient’s homes and she will see a dramatic difference in her electric bills.” ### About ecobeco ecobeco’s mission is to help homeowners simultaneously save energy, money and the environment, while promoting health and safety for the entire family. ecobeco participates in the Maryland Home Performance with ENERGY STAR® program as a provider of Home Energy Audits. ecobeco’s energy efficiency experts help consumers by providing prioritized advice along with the products and services that solve customer’s concerns around saving money, creating a healthy and safe home, and helping the environment. ecobeco offers energy saving products to clients at their showroom in Rockville, MD., or on the web at www.ecobeco.com .
