A family fun evening filled with baseball and hot dogs: On June 12th, RTMC held the annual ‘Thank You’ dinner at Cabin John Regional Park to recognize and show appreciation for the 2009 National Rebuilding Day sponsors and volunteers. We could not do this work without our dedicated leaders: house captians, house ambassadors, area coordinators, thank you for all that you do! Spring Appeals are in the mail! Help your neighbors in need. With your donation, we can install grab bars in the bathroom of a senior, provide working EnergyStar appliances to a family or repair a dilapidated and leaking roof. We know that these are difficult times. Any donation is greatly appreciated! If you would like to donate to Rebuilding Together Montgomery County, please contact LShaw@rebuidlingtogethermc.org or go to our secure online diving page here. New Grants: RTMC is pleased to report on new funding opportunities:
Get More From Your Travels: You can support RTMC as you vacation with your family or travel on business. RTMC has a partnership with YTB Travel, a website comparable to expedia or orbitz, but where RTMC receives 40% of the commission on booked travel. By booking your vacations or business travel on our site, you are supporting RTMC at no additional cost to yourself! For more information, go to http://www.ytbtravel.com/rebuildingtogether. Choice Hotels announced the selection of Rebuilding Together as its signature cause partner: The program named, “Room to Rebuild” is part of Choice Hotels ongoing commitment to strengthen the local communities in which their associates and franchisees live, work and provide hospitality. As part of this new relationship, RTMC has been selected to host the launch project in September. We are very excited to play a role in this new partnership. Sears Holdings Announces Summer Campaign for Heroes At Home program: Sears Holdings and Rebuilding Together have partnered for multiple Veterans’ housing projects. In an effort to spread awareness and continued support of the Heroes At Home program, Sears Holdings will be hosting a summer campaign. On May 15th until July 6th patrons of Sears stores can make donations at a local store or online at sears.com/heroesathome. All proceeds will go to the revitalization and rehabilitation of the homes of our veterans and their families throughout the country. Please donate or register a Veteran who may need our services. For more information, please visit http://www.sears.com/heroesthome. Volunteer Opportunities: We are looking for a few good men (or women!).
Painting Crew – this includes interior and exterior painting and deck staining/powerwashing Home Mods Squad – Many of our senior and disabled homeowners require grab bars and railings to be installed in their homes to prevent falls and keep them safe. De-cluttering Crew – We occasionally have homeowners who need help clearing spaces in their home before other repairs are done. The St Rose Furniture ministry is providing gently used furniture to families in need. Since recently re-opening, requests for furniture have far outpaced donations, especially for beds and dressers. If you can help, please email donations@strosefurniture.com or call 301 482 2947. Here is a recent article about the Furniture Ministry http://www.gazette.net/stories/06172009/gaitnew213023_32526.shtml Ways to Give: RTMC thanks you for all the ways you participate in our program!
