A thriving Rebuilding Together affiliate involves the talents, time and
energy of many persons who want to make a difference in their community.
Each volunteer Board member plays a key role in the success of the project.
Legally and morally, the Board of Directors of a nonprofit organization
has the ultimate responsibility for all the activities of the organization.
The legal responsibility can never be delegated. The Board of Directors
holds the public interest in trust, acting as stewards of the organization.
The term of office for Board Members of Rebuilding Together * Montgomery
County is three years and individuals are eligible to serve two consecutive
three year terms of service for a total of six years.
Much of the work of a Rebuilding Together Board is done through Committees.
Committees provide a strong foundation for successful planning.
President
To keep Rebuilding Together focused on setting and meeting local and
national goals. The President oversees officers and board committees
and encourages future leaders.
Chairman of the Board
The Chairman of the Board serves as an advisory role to the Board of
Directors and the entire Rebuilding Together program.
Vice President
Vice President serves as the President's
assistant in conducting all aspects of Rebuilding Together's business
and is in training to assume the presidency.
Secretary
The Secretary is the custodian of all corporate records and documents.
The secretary insures that the board follows all policies and procedures
established in the by-laws and that board meetings are run efficiently.
Treasurer
The treasurer is responsible for managing, controlling and
investing all Rebuilding Together funds subject to state and federal guidelines.
Develop financial reports and budgets with the Executive Director.
Executive Director
The Executive Director is a paid position appointed by and
responsible to the Board of Directors for the overall development, management
and execution the Rebuilding Together program.
Committee Chairpersons
Sets the tone for committee work, ensures that the members
have the information they need to do their jobs, and oversees the logistics
of the committee's operation. Reports to full board for committee decisions,
policy recommendations and other committee business. Assigns work to committee
members, sets meeting agendas, runs meetings and ensures the distribution
of minutes and reports to members.
Committee Members
Must make a serious commitment to actively participate in the
committee's work, including participation in committee meetings and discussions.
Should volunteer for and willingly accept assignments and complete them
thoroughly and on time. Must stay informed about committee matters, prepare
themselves for meetings, and review and comment on minutes and reports.

Structure |
Executive Committe
The Executive Committee recommends actions for approval of the full
board and sometimes acts for the board, within carefully defined boundaries,
between meetings. The committee meets regularly to review operational,
programmatic and financial matters. The Chairman of the Board chairs
the Executive Committee.
Nominating Committee
The nominating committee determines the composition of the
board by identifying, recruiting and proposing board members. The committee
develops written job descriptions of board member responsibilities and
evaluates board member performance based on these responsibilities. The
committee plays an active part in cultivating new board members. The committee
also develops and nominates board officers. Members are appointed by the
Board President.
Site Selection Committee
The Site Selection Committee is responsible for planning, supervising
and coordinating the review of applications as well as selecting participants
for the program. This includes contact with the Site Preview teams, homeowners
and other relevant sources of information.
Project Organization Committee
The Project Organization Committee will oversee all planning and management
of National Rebuilding Day.

The Fund Raising Committee is responsible for the planning, supervision
and coordination of all Rebuilding Together fund-raising efforts.

Public Relations Committee
Public Relations Committee is responsible for planning,
supervising and coordinating the board's role in media and public
relations and in public advocacy activities.
Strategic Planning/ Program Development Committee
Strategic Planning is the responsibility of all board members.
A smaller committee made up of board members working with staff are charged
with the actual preparation of the plan, the entire board must be committed
to the process, involved in the plans development, willing to take responsibility
for ensuring the fulfillment of the final goals and objectives, and willing
to participate in the evaluation of the plan.
