OUR MISSION

Bringing volunteers and communities together to improve the homes and lives of low-income homeowners.

GREEN TIP OF THE MONTH

Did you get a new laptop over the holidays? How about a new ipod, camera, or photo printer? These tech toys are a lot of fun but what are you going to do with the old ones? Consider donating or recycling your no longer used electronic devises instead of letting them pile up in the garage or throwing them away. First Time Computers is a great local organization that refurbishes and then donates gently used computers to low-income families in the DC area. You can also click  here to find an organization that will reuse or recycle your other electronic devises.

WAYS TO SUPPORT RTMC

Do you have gift cards lying around you know you aren't going to use? Or are you wanting to support Spring Rebuilding Day without lifting a hammer? When you donate a gift card to RTMC we give it directly to a homeowner in need on Spring Rebuilding Day.

Preparing for Action

A new year means our Spring Rebuilding Days are fast approaching! As uur largest annual event, Spring Rebuilding Days bring our entire community together for one weekend of intense home repair and renovation; last year with your efforts we repaired 32 homes and 5 nonprofits! Groups large and small, civic and corporate, skilled and unskilled from across Montgomery County are given a specific home to develop their own project. Repairs range in skill level from roof repair and plumbing or electrical issues to painting and landscaping. RTMC works closely with sponsoring groups to match volunteer skill level with the appropriate home.

We have extended the sponsorship form deadline to January 15th. You can download this form
here. If you or your group is considering sponsoring a house this spring and have more questions please contact Lee Berkeley Shaw.

Energy Auditors Needed - Spring 2010
RTMC is working hard to develop our new Green Housing program which makes energy and water efficiency repairs to the homes of low-income homeowners. Because of these repairs, homeowners save money on utility bills, live in cleaner home environments and are better able to afford other essential needs. But we need help! If you have experience performing energy audits or know someone who does who may be willing to donate their time and skills please contact Chris Somers.

The heart of a volunteer is not measured in size, but in the depth of commitment to make a difference in the lives of others.
